Buying / selling

Gallery Rob Kattenburg buys and sells maritime paintings and drawings by old masters, and etchings and engravings of shipping, but only works from the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries (not after 1900!). Paintings are also taken on commission.

Valuation and restoration advice

The Gallery can not give free valuations due to the many requests. For a valuation or expertise we have to charge € 350,- + 21% VAT per hour. This will be sufficient in 95% of the cases. We can also advise you during this consultation on restoration and framing.

Art-historical research

Gallery Rob Kattenburg has its own documentation centre. As well as an extremely extensive library there are photograph archives built up over forty years that can be used in art-historical and historical research. In addition the documentation centre has an archive with images and auction prices of maritime works of art. This means that an investigation into the history of any marine painting is nearly always successful.

Gallery Rob Kattenburg regularly publishes beautifully illustrated brochures and catalogues, which are of course about shipping. These publications are a valuable supplement to the existing literature. While stocks last these publications can be requested by credit transfer of € 20 for a brochure and € 25 for a hardback publication (excl. postage).
